Not just
a Website
The websites created by Olympos Hub combine the traditional communicative function with the public, with the functions of a database of all the works in the museum collection, both those displayed in the permanent collection and in temporary exhibitions, and those inventoried and conserved. They also perform the function of expanding, via the web, the content available in the museum’s multimedia stations (touchless stations, information totems, audioguides accessible via QR code, virtual reality content, interactive satisfaction questionnaires). This is why we define our sites as ‘expanded’ because they act as a ‘container’ into which all the material necessary for museum management, flows.
Our sites, despite their versatility, are very easy to manage. The video below shows the process of adding a new artwork to the museum's gallery of permanent works.
On the left side we find the website as it appears to the public when searching on the Internet (front end),
On the right side we find the dashboard, which is the interface used by those who manage the content of the site (back end).
All it takes is a few actions such as choosing the work, entering the catalogue number, entering the title (the fields are customisable and decided with the customer), clicking on the ‘publish’ button and, in real time, the public site (the front end, the one visible online) will be updated. The same procedure applies to the other sections of the site (these too can be customized as required). At the end of the video, the following are also shown: the switching to a second language, which is done by dynamically updating the site itself and not by creating a second page, and how the optimisation of the site automatically adapts to the size of the device the site is displayed on (desktop, tablet or smartphone).
This simplicity of use allows quick management by museum staff who, even without specific technical skills, will be able to independently update sections of the site (collections, inventories, but also news, events, newsletters).
In the video on the other hand, refers to the physical stations located within the museum space (touchless stations, audioguides accessible via QR code, acquisition of digitized images of works of art, virtual reality content, interactive satisfaction surveys). All the content provided at these stations converges in the expanded website, which becomes the ‘storage’ area for all the material managed by the museum.
Some other information:
- Our expanded sites are totally written for the customer. This gives us the possibility to create a site that is totally customisable to every specific need.
- The customer is the owner of the source code.
- When an alternative language to the official site language is chosen, the page updates dynamically, not loading a second page.
- The servers we use are located on European territory, so our sites are compliant with EU privacy requirements.
- Third-party services, i.e. not directly implemented by OH (e.g. the ticketing service), can be integrated into the dashboard so that all museum services can be managed from one place, avoiding the need to switch between multiple interfaces.
We remain at your disposal for any further information you may wish to receive concerning our... WOW SITES!!!
